VIDEO REVIEW

This is some decent old-school horror from the late 1970s. Has a good creepy vibe from start to finish. Grounded enough in the small town atmosphere, but a bit surreal too. And the Ice Cream Truck seems quite refreshing until required to house a something-or-other kinda thing.

Starting at night in a cemetery with some sexy times. Aaaw riiight. Things...happen. Daytime cemetery? Less sexy. Kinda creepy too, actually. Jody is there for his buddy’s burial, with his little brother following as he often seems to do. But little Mikey sees some weird shit going on there at the ole Morningside Cemetery. He’s just a 13 year old kid, still pretty broken up over their parent’s death a couple years prior, and knows his older brother is looking to move on. Abandonment is a bitch. What starts off as an afterschool special turns dark, though. That Tall Man mortician at the cemetery? He seems like one not-cool dude. Mike just needs to convince his brother and their friend Reggie it’s not just all in his head.

This is a pretty solid low budget horror flick with a cool angle. It captures a pretty authentic feel to the relationship between the brothers and a sense of impending...something. Plus it establishes a different kind of horror-based mythology that leaves you wondering what the fuck is actually going on. Cemeteries and Mausoleums and some jawa-lookin fuckers help enhance that. And that last scene is a real doozy.

Great Scene: Creepy photo found in an antique store. And, of course, THE SILVER SPHERE OF DEATH!

Great Quote: “Booooooy!”
