VIDEO REVIEW

This is a pretty barebones kind of story. It’s Nic Fkn Cage being, wait for it, a bit of an unhinged character, truth be told. I don’t suspect any typecasting though. I have a feeling the original character was not that. And it would have been a sadder and boringer story if that had been the case. But Nic here? On fkn deranged point, makes it a bit more watchable.

A worried father, dropping off his young son before heading to the hospital as his wife goes into labor. But then an odd occurrence happens. Nic Fkn Cage with Punky Red Hair gets into his car. Uninvited. It’s totally not an Uber, dude! And it gets growingly unpleasant situationally after that where people get violenced and may or may not be who they say they are. But the biggest shocker here is the tuna melts. Who the fuck orders tuna melts? Both dreadful and dismaying in their tuna meltiness, much like Cage’s hair here.

I dunno, this one ain’t too deep. Can see how it’s gonna play out pretty quick, one way or the other. Cage does his best to spice up a pretty shallow story, and I guess Joel Kinnaman does ok in his role. He was decent in the TV series The Killing back in the day. But then he took the job in the remake of RoboCop, and made me question his brainthinkings. This one is like that, a bit perfunctory. It’s like someone tried to adapt a stage play to film, and didn’t realize stage plays are boring as shit, even if it stars Nicolas Fkn Cage. But it does weave a little wake of destruction as the story plays out.

Great Scene: Discovering why Nicolas Cage’s character has never been happy. Damned SnotMan fucks it all up for everyone he sprinkles on.

Music Notes: No Stones, original or covered, despite the name of the film. Which is fine, this doesn’t earn that.
