VIDEO REVIEW

By the time the opening action sequence segues through Deadpool’s prison wallet to the actual plot of the film, I know I’ve come to the right place for absolute pure ridiculous action sequences and inappropriate comedies. Let’s crack open another beer, shall we?

Given that Hugh Grant’s character or whatever his name is died a few movies ago, it’s a stretch to bring him back into the World of Deadpool. But by hook or multiversed crook, they do it. In complete Deadpool fashion. Plots are for chumps, watch it if you aren’t completely dead inside for action comedy in red-tarded superhero trappings. And crappy minivans that are still crappy, fuck you Wade, I don’t care what you say about the Honda Odyssey. It’s the reason it’s the butt of an extended joke here!

Given the right mix, Reynold’s smart-mouthed quips combined with action and, yes, even a little character heartstring pullings, the writers did a good job here tying a lot of different shit together. Maybe a little too much. It’s a lot to pack into the 2+ hour runtime, but it is always entertaining. Logically retarded, but entertaining. And some digs about Disney and pegging that even I was surprised to see let pass. But it is R-Rated and their brands are ass now so what do they have to lose? Some interesting character cameos that pop up, including one kind of unexpected one in Peter, that moustached sonavabitch! Who doesn’t like that guy, right? Haha, yeah. Funny, actiony, and right mix of regerts to make it all justified.

Great Quote: 4th Wall breakages are plentiful here as always, but the best quote: “What in the Macguffin is that?!?” – haha, yeah

Great Scene: Marvel did give a lot of carte blanche with this, probably because they realize this is their only franchise left that’s even remotely watchable right now. So when a “popular character” pops up, it’s fun to see how they play with that. Viciously. Even to the post credit sequence, which is both redeeming AND high-larious. To their...credit.

Music Notes: I get it, the retro 90s pop shit. Too much, man. Throw in some actual good stuff that ain’t all nostalgic crap. But I guess that what Deadpool does, ties all that shit together. Would be nice to also have some Corrosion of Conformityor someone, you know, cool.
