Oh, my DMR friends, THIS is the way to start a movie. Hell Prison, Fast Car, Guns, Explosions, and Nicolas. Fuckin. Cage. Four minutes in, you know. Pure. Cheese. Awesomeness.
Looks like someone is pulling off a little escape from Hell. Really not too big of a chase after him though, apparently. Till someone has to Account for it. In a past life, Milton (Cage) had some issues with a cult and his daughter. Now? He Gets himself caught up with a kinda hot dumb ornery bitch. And it Turns out that cult is still kinda active. Milton? He’s got issues with that. But he’s got to catch up to them first. With no ride, he’s on foot. Walks angry. Not very effective. But then he gets a car. And drives, angry. More appropriate.
Not gonna lie, I think Cage might have taken this role partially just to drive the cars. ‘69 Charger? Awesome. The kick-ass Chevelle? Yeah. There’s somethin to those oldy moldy cars that weren’t couches on wheels. The addition of William Fichtner and David Morse brings this one up a notch. Amber Turd? Well, at least she beats up a naked chick, apparently good at throwin down fists, among other things. The rest is some CGI extravaganzas to a thrill kill kultish beat, and shamelessly so. But lamer music, the rock here kinda sucks, at least to me, I actually would have preferred some early Thrill Kill Kult for the soundtrack, woulda been more appropriate than this dreck. Fortunately, it’s still a fun enough action romp and pure cheese only Cage can pull off well without being totally ridiculous. I mean, if someone like Schwarzeneggar tried this? Nope. Cage? Yep.
