So a heist movie by Steven “Ocean’s Eleven Remake” Soderbergh, eh? That one was entertaining enough, how’s this? Smaller scale, and with some racecars that have nothin to do with the movie. Stupid marketing. Fuckit, it ain’t about the racecars, anyways.
Jimmy Logan ain’t doin too good. Laid off from the job, issues with the ex and seeing his daughter. His brother Clyde, local one-handed bartender, just slingin drinks after his tour of duty got done. Not very lucky, one could say. But Jimmy’s got some new ideas, and even with the known family jinxes, he gonna try it anyways.
This ain’t a bad little heist film, the characters are colorful and the story setting kinda unique. Channing Tatum is ok as the lead, he’s kinda like next-generation Mark Wahlburg for acting skills. Adam Driver, Daniel Craig and a small role by Dwight Yokam have their moments, and a cockerous role by Seth MacFarlane that quite honestly is a bit cringe but suitable. Not very heavy story-wise, just an entertaining movie. It’s a heist. Nothin flashy, it’s done decently. Finish your beer and move on.
