VIDEO REVIEW

Picking up exactly where Mad Max 2 left off, he now runs a small coffee shop on the edge of the desert...No, just kidding. The long hair and lack of dog proves it. But he did acquire a monkey, somehow. And some camels. But sure as shit, desert anarchy rules and his shit gets stoled. Dammit!

A lone traveler and his monkey and camels (so I guess not exactly ‘lone’) is suddenly put upon from the air! Bastard! Long walk to Bartertown, which is helping to build a better tomorrow. Sure. But there are laws, and generally respected apparently. The Big Rule? You got a beef? You fight mano a mano in Thunderdome! Two men enter, one man leaves. This is repeated. A lot. Shit gets taken care of in the Dome. Then, there’s the second half of the movie.

First half of this movie is cool, showing a larger post-apocalyptic world and how enclaves of societies could potentially survive. The Thunderdome concept has become a meme, in a lot of respects. You say Bartertown, you know Thunderdome or Master Blaster ain’t far behind. But I have to wonder if this gladiatorial method might not be a better solution for some of today’s woes. Not all of of em, because, yeah, the strong prey on the weak. But bungee cords do create a new variable most don’t count on. But give em a weight class restriction, and yeah. Go to town. If you hit Thunderdome again, you get a bigger weight class to fight against, maybe even two. This would discourage repeated Thunderdoming visits by repeat Thunderdomers. Just Something to consider, after the TV goes out. Mel Gibson does ok here. Tina Turner does...her thing. Aeroplane guy? Still Wily. I don’t think he’s technically supposed to be the same character from the second one though. As for the Second half of the movie? There’s questions. A bit of a MacGuffin kinda deal. Too bad, because the story probably could have taken a better path. But at least there’s the cool car and fight stuff at the end to redeem it...slightly.

Great Quote: “Who Run Bartertown?” “MasterBlaster runs Bartertown.” Damn Tootin!

Car Notes: Turbine car is the best car, IMHO.
