I admit, I am not a foodie. I’m more practical over presentation. Nice educatations on the different food types here though. I’ll still tend toward a good grilled steak, some savory buttered asparagus and garlicky mashed potatoes, however they are sourced, though honestly the more local the better. There is something to that. The Chef here commands, “do not Eat, but Savor.” Some real pretentious shit goins on here over some food.
An elite dining experience. A freak-geek foodie dude and his date are getting ready for the Dinner Experience of a lifetime. It comes with a pricetag, though. Worth it to some. And it is not just the food, it is a Full Experience. And the Chef makes it notably so. Too bad geek-foodie Tyler swapped his date at the last moment. It might create some complications in the evening, for whatever reason, as the collection of the various 12 guests is particular. In fact, it can make things a bit...tense. The Food is still stellar though. Allegedly, according to the foodie. It made me appreciate my stale Rold Gold pretzels that much more as I washed em down with another PBR.
Don’t get me wrong, I do appreciate a good Chicago pie with perfectly spiced Italian Sausage, fragrant tomato sauce thick with oregano and a hint of thyme, a buttery flaky crust and smoked mozerrella for layers. But it’s still just a pizza. Happy gut makes a happy man. This here, in part, tears down the hypocrisy of the inane haute couture of the food world and the “educated” foodie koonts who think they have a more refined palette. Screw you. Good food tastes good. Fuck your 12 hour prep time, a cheeseburger on the grill for a few minutes, a good bun, some fries that ain’t soggy. We are simple folk, with simple pleasures. The more you complicate that, the unhappier you will be. Except when it comes to beer. I do like a nice honey-ginger lager. Sue me. Decent little slow burn kind of drama here that touches on the darker side high society and a criticism culture. Turns out the food, despite the prominence, is a bit...secondary. And Fiennes as the Chef? Nails it.
