Actually, nothing like that. There’s an old church that has some suspect shit in its basement. The Oncoming Eclipse here seems Eviler. Bugs seem crawl-ier. The local Homeless seem Kill-ier. Plus Donald Pleasence as a kinda pussy Catholic priest and a chick that gets Blue Oyster Culted!
Interesting look at a potential End of Times kind of tale here, through a religious and a scientific lens. First watching this way back in the day, was not a huge fan, but that was more in my gore, action and boobs phase! This one could still use more gore, action and even one boob. Oh well, it still has a relatively better story than I remember, with a growing sense of dread and an interesting ending that leaves one a bit miffed but shit, how the fuck you end a story like this? Fluffy bunnies and puppies can only cheer one up so much. This one is by that Carpenter guy that made The Thing with MacReady and its uplifting ending 5 years earlier, so piss off! This does have some okay psychological foreboding as an unexplainable event approaches while some nerds try to get laid in uncomical fashion, All while dealing with a weird obsession with Satan’s clogged toilet. I think. I don’t read Latin or gyroglyphs so who the fuck knows.
