VIDEO REVIEW

The Broken Lizard crew back for more, and hitting pretty much every note here. Obviously there’s a lot of comedy to mine from the Wait Staff shenanigans of every wanna-be actor out there just trying to scrape by before their big break-out role. Waiting… with Ryan Reynolds did a good job with the environment in 2005. This one takes a few of the wait-staff scenarios up to 11 here in a single night of sellin the floor, with pretty consistent results throughout.

Ex-Star Boxer Cleon “Slammin” Salmon got himself a top-tier restaurant in Miami. Unfortunately he’s in a bit of a pickle after losing an albino hunting bet to a Yakuza, and being cash-strapped, needs to take it from the restaurant that evening. It’s a big bet, so the restaurant manager has to makes it a competition between all the waiters to sell the most for the night. Are swordfish savaged? Is there hot soup? Does Lance Henriksen wonder where the bathroom is? Does it even get...out of hand? Yes. Yes is does, to all of our collective amusements.

The Usual Crew of the Broken Lizards all do a fantastic job here in their individual roles, nice character dynamics, with Paul Soter even doing double duty as “twins” that is both horrible and awesome. Michael Duncan Clarke gets some of the best lines though, and executed perfectly. Kevin “Farva” Heffernan takes over directing duties from Jay Chandraskhar for this one but yeah, it’s still a collective comedy kinda thing. Great characters, amusing situations, and a heart-felt story. Comedy can be fickle. I don’t think I enjoyed this quite as much on first watching, but damn. Truly funny comedies are pretty hard to come by, and seem fairly scarce recently. So I have to say I appreciated this one a lot more with this latest viewing, take that for what it is.

Great Scene: Fuckin runaway horses.

Great Quotes: Between Meatdrapes and Cunty McTwat? Why is nobody laughing? High-larious.
