VIDEO REVIEW

This is not a typical movie. From the South Korean guy that did Oldboy, yeah, no surprise there, eh? You know the saying “it doesn’t end well,” this movie kinda starts off there. Then just kinda spirals down that shit staircase from there. It is bad luck and badder decisions. It does take a little bit for the actions to simmer, but then the vengeances kicks in.

There’s a brother and sister. Brother is deaf and dumb. Sister is dying without a kidney transplant. Too bad the brother has the wrong blood type, so he can’t donate his. But then there’s a fortuitous moment. While taking a piss, some of those damn sticker vandals put up “Organs For Sale! Call this number!” Damn, those fuckers plaster them up all the time. How can I tell who the good bands are with all those organ transplant spammers gumming shit up, right? Well, it’s kinda worst case scenario for the bro, so calls are made. Organs are...well, you just have to watch the rest for yourself to see how that goes. And it...doesn’t go well. Really, you ask? Yeah. Really. And that’s just like the first twenty minutes.

A Dark movie, to say the least. Watching the mental destruction of people as events play out is not pleasant, but there is a macabre fascination as it all unfolds. South Korean actor Song Kang-ho (Parasite, Good Bad Weird, The Host) puts in a significant role here, as a distraught father pulled into the overall scheme. And it’s sad to watch as these characters try desperately for peace through vengeance, and the bloody results that come of it. Done well, but Damn. There’s some shit here’s that’s pretty fucked up. Word to the wise, if you ever see a sticker or get an email or a text about available organs and that in some way shape or form applies to you, you may want to explore different options.
Needless to say, this one ain’t for the casual viewer.

Great Scene: Blood trails in the water. Beautifully shot, as morbid as that sounds.

Fucked Quote: “It’s in an artery. Don’t take it out.” You can only guess what happens next.
