[Hot Fuzz Video Clip in Video Review, no ASCII art here, brah!] As you know, I don’t usually do clips in my review. 330 videos in, I broke that rule. Because...this. Never watched it before. I just let the waves of the crazy wash over me. Fuckin surfers, brah. They a different breed.
Bill is a youngin F.B.I. agent. Or is it Ted? Whichever Keanu played, here he is all grown up. Well, at least to the decrepit age of 25. Thrown into the Bank Crimes division of L.A., the largest bank Crimings statistics, like anywhere. Go figure. But there’s one gang. They like ghosts, those Ex-Presidents. Only cash, never caught, years of operation. Old Coot Agent Gary Busey been tryin to bust em for years. His theory? Crazy, like the old codger he is. But his new hot-shot partner Johnny Utah can help. You know how to surf? And the rollercoaster ride begins.
Gotta say, this is a good mix of story, characters, action, and flaws in our governmental agency procedures. Certain personalities are attracted to certain stimuli. At what point do you differentiate between “legal” and “illegal” to obtain such adrenaline? Interesting look here as to how that plays out. Keanu is ok in the lead I guess, still relying more on the physical than acting abilities here. Patrick Stewart...shit...I mean Swayze, does good as the Surfer Monk. Gary Busey, on point for jaded almost aged-out agent with a theory and conviction. Good for him! And director Kathryn Bigelow proves her good eye for story and action once again. Fire up a pineapple and ham pizza and enjoy! And then have your ass summarily kicked for desecrating a pizza in such a manner. I don’t care if you’re a water hippie, there’s pizza rules, brah. Don’t break em.
